You can now battle through the streets of Tokyo in a tank in the Manga-inspired Tokyo Warfare public demo.
You might remember Tokyo Warfare from our recent preview of the game. In, short it’s a multiplayer shoot-em-up where players take control of a tank then battle to the death through the streets of Tokyo. With some hints to Manga culture, a unique visual style and some nice use of the Oculus Rift, this is an action-packed original take on tank warfare; and you can now check it out for yourself in the latest public demo.
Coming to Oculus Share in approximately 2 weeks (from the time of writing), the latest public demo is the first official build that supports the Oculus Rift. It enables players to control a tank from both first and third-person perspectives, and with its multiplayer focus you’re always battling against other real players. Here’s a round-up of the features and improvements found in the latest demo:
- Damage system has been greatly improved, turret and cannon can be damaged an temporarily disabled.
- Tank tracks can be destroyed causing serious struggle into enemy unit.
- Disabled crew shout on fire.
- Working UI displaying tank status.
- Options menu with a number of options such as audio mute, crew disable, among other graphics, sound and controls options.
- Define game quality in runtime.
- New tune and radio chatter sfx.
- A number of graphical improvements such HD lighting and motion blur among others.
- Global server network enabled.
- Improved trees. Tree “destruction” has been disabled until proper destruction is implemented, some still can be overrun.
- Many other minor improvements.
- XBox 360 controller support.
- FULL Oculus Rift support.
