POLLEN Gameplay Trailer Revealed

New in-game trailer for POLLEN looks rather special indeed.

It might be months from release, but the latest trailer for POLLEN has us itching to play the game. It’s a first-person sci-fi thriller, set on-board a research station (suppose that makes a nice change from the usual space ship), where the story is slowly revealed by interaction with objects and the environment; and the developers mean every object, from cans of beans to weapons that are scattered around each room.

Designed from the ground-up with virtual reality and the Oculus Rift in mind, the latest trailer (embedded above) reveals plenty of intriguing gameplay mechanics, although it’s fairly obvious that the game footage was captured without an Oculus Rift being worn. Nevertheless, the beautiful graphics and sci-fi atmosphere already have us hooked, and we can’t wait to find out more.

Steam Greenlight page was today launched for POLLEN, and it reveals plenty of information about the game, including how the developers are intending to use virtual reality to enhance the gameplay: “The gameplay will not take camera control away from you, use jump scares, have frame drops or any other clear discomforts of VR…except where its intentional like the drunk mode. The best movement type in VR for you can be chosen from the different movement modes (regular, comfort, 25 degree jumping etc.) and multiple tweaks are available from head bob to gamepad acceleration.” Sounds promising.
